FX sets premiere date for Louis C.K.’s show, Ricky Gervais to guest star
The premiere of Louis C.K.’s new show on FX,Louie, is, to say the least, one of the most anticipated events for stand-up comedy fans this year. In February we reported that the originally announced premiere date of April 1 would be pushed back to June; but nothing more specific was released.
Today, FX finally revealed that_ Louie_, a semi autobiographical look at the comedian’s life, will premiere June 29 at 11 pm EST and, as already reported, will follow Denis Leary’s acclaimed show Rescue Me each week. What’s more is that the likes of Ricky Gervais, Bobby Cannavale and Pamela Adlon — who played Louis’ wife on the ill-fated HBO series Lucky Louie — are all set to make guest starring appearances on the series.
According to FX, the show is “filtered through the observational humor of Louis C.K. Each episode puts a spotlight on Louis’ hectic life as a successful stand-up comedian and newly single father raising his two daughters in New York. The single-camera comedy is a mix of Louis C.K.’s stand-up comedy and scripted stories.”
The network plans to air 13 episodes of Louie.
