At 28, Conor Oberst has reinvented himself as - Conor Oberst. For most of the past dozen years, Oberst has fronted and anchored Bright Eyes. But earlier this year, he released a solo album backed by the Mystic Valley Band, and, on Thursday night, returned to Milwaukee for a date at the Turner Hall Ballroom in support of his new project. Oberst is one of those rare musicians who is both sex object and critical favorite. Oberst still has the smooth features, lean frame and smallish stature of a teenager. But if he radiates youth physically, he is a polished vet musically.
